Lighting Design

I am a Theatre Lighting Designer with over twenty five years professional experience.


I graduated in 1988 with a Degree in English Literature and a love of working in Technical Theatre (which had not been on the syllabus!)


I began work as a Lighting Technician in Cambridge and was then based at the  LABAN Centre for Contemporary Dance also touring as Technical Manager  with VTOL.

I was Head of Lighting at Derby Playhouse. During a 12 year period there I designed the lighting for Derby Playhouse productions for the Artistic Director Mark Clements and many other guest Directors.


Since 2004 I have been freelance, lighting Productions for regional and national Theatre Companies including Nottingham Playhouse, New Vic Theatre, Red Earth Theatre Company and York Theatre Royal.


Based in Derbyshire my work combines Theatre Design with Architectural Consultancy and Lecturing
