I am a Theatre Lighting Designer with over thirty years professional experience.
I graduated in 1988 with a Degree in English Literature and a love of working in Technical Theatre (which had not been on the syllabus!)
I began working as a freelance Lighting Technician in Cambridge. Then, via a short time as a Technician in the world of Contemporary Dance at the LABAN Centre, I arrived at Derby Playhouse in 1991 as Assistant Electrician.Serving the “apprenticeship route” I became Head of Lighting at Derby Playhouse in 1999.
Over a 12 year period at Derby Playhouse I designed the lighting for Derby Playhouse productions for the Artistic Director Mark Clements and many other guest Directors.
Since 2004 I have been freelance, still based in Derbyshire, lighting productions for many of the regions Producing Theatres and Touring Companies combining Design with Consultancy and Education work.
